Art isn’t just for walls and gathering dust. Consider a functional and beautiful handcrafted metal fire grate or screen, or a small piece of artisan furniture. Maybe something small that you bought while traveling, to show that you were thinking of them. Look for the personal touch: something that reminds them of your friendship, like a nicely framed picture or a statue that reminds you both of good times.

Games

Board or tabletop games are a slightly unconventional housewarming present, but an excellent one. The point of a housewarming is to make them feel at home, and what really makes a home is the memories that are formed inside it. There are so many fun indie board games available these days. They’re an excellent way to make the kind of memories that turn a house into a home.

Food or Drinks

When in doubt, you can always bring them their favorite food or a nice bottle of wine, liquor, or beer. This is an excellent fallback option if you are completely stumped for ideas, because you know it’s not something they’re going to be stuck staring at, wondering why on earth you thought they’d like it. After all, food and drinks will always get eaten or drunk. 

Gifts are Meant to be Shared
